"Off-Grid Academics" represents our belief that there isn’t one route to success or (more importantly) happiness and satisfaction. Our goal is to use our experiences to help students find unique opportunities, whether that includes college, professional school, graduate school, or entrepreneurship.

Between the two of us, we have been through many school systems, from a private preschool in New York City to homeschooling and Community College in North Carolina, and everything in between. We have diverse experiences and skills that give us a nontraditional perspective and allow us to understand how children - and parents - learn.

Our individual paths led us to major in STEM fields (in physics and chemical engineering) in college and further pursue PhDs in neuroscience and chemical engineering. Since graduating, we have realized that we did not want to become professors, but are interested in educating students at earlier stages where we have a greater ability to positively shape the educational trajectories of others.

We started this company as a way to connect with the next generation and give back the combined knowledge we have gained through our many unique experiences.

We will always appreciate the academic training that we’ve had (as it is how we met too!), and have come to realize that the critical thinking, curiosity, and analytical ability required to complete our PhDs are the most important gifts we can teach to the coming generation of students.  Our goal is to  empower the future with the same skills to better prepare them for the challenges that lay ahead.
